Pruning Season

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

Abide in Me, and I in you.” John 15

Prune (verb): 1. To trim by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth.

2. To cut off, clip, sever.

3. To reduce the extent of (something) by removing superfluous or unwanted parts.

Oh how I wish I learned the art of pruning sooner in life. Sitting here with my daughter, pruning my Mother’s Day roses, and realizing we have been in a pruning season. And I’m trying hard to not look around at all that is lost or cut from us… instead I wait patiently to see what blooms.
